How long after my loss should I wait before making contact?

The spirits are able to communicate immediately. The issue is not with the spirits, but rather with the bereaved. The right time to make communication with a loved one passed on is after some time and perspective.  You need to take some time to grieve and accept your loss. There are many wonderful things that happen as a result of a session, but there is not an instant cure for the bereavement process. Once you feel strong enough emotionally, it would be a good time to make the contact with your loved ones passed on.
